BANANAPHONE!

Raffi "Bananaphone" Torres is the hero in game 1 of the 2011 Stanley Cup finals!!!! Remember that, people. let it sit in your cerebral database, because you will need it when you look back on this playoff run. When you reminisce over the memories.
Tonight's game was a little boring, no? We won, sure. Just a little boring. I found my mind wandering away from the game a bit, and got tired of watching players skate to the penalty box. Apparently Alex Burrows BIT someone? I saw this on twitter...how did I miss that?! Musta been with Bergeron at the end of the first period.
Also, thanks to twitter, I found out that Dan Hamhuis is "fine" and is listed as "day-to-day". PHEW! Without question he's our best defenseman. He doesn't score timely goals like Bieksa, he doesn't have a cannon for a shot like Ehrhoff or Salo, and he's not as physically dominant as Edler (Beautiful hipcheck tonight, though!!). But he's steady, responsible, and his beard is shockingly similar to mine. Both of us can't seem to grow anything on our cheeks. He's also had to deal with the burden of having a uni-brow, so we're basically like brothers. Both from the North, too.
So, we won a tight-checking game without the help of our most dependable defenseman for half the game. I like our chances in game 2.
We need to get WAY more quality shots on net, though. I can remember one scoring chance that Mason Raymond had in the second. There was 1 from each of the Canucks top 3 lines in their first shift. Other than that, though, besides the Torres goal, there wasn't much. Kesler's trying to walk through guys, the Sedins are being too cute, and suddenly, SUDDENLY, our fucking powerplay has gone to shit!
We must get a powerplay goal next game. Have to.
Luongo was equal to the task in the battle of the goalies. he recorded a shutout, and Thomas didn't. I still think Thomas was better, but Luongo was Steady Eddy.
Our best line, in terms of executing a gameplan ,was the 3rd line, no doubt. Kept the puck in deep on most shifts, outskated the fuck out of the slower Bruins squad, and hit everything in sight. Loved the effort tonight, Hansen, Torres and Lapierre.
Torres has been "as advertised". Risk vs Reward. He almost cost the Canucks dearly in round 1, but it's paid off having him since the Canucks went deep in this playoffs.
Also, if the Canucks win the cup, my vote for the Conn Smythe is Mike Gillis.
Leafs suck. Don't sign with them, Bieksa. Stay in Vancouver. The only thing worse than playing for the Leafs is living in Toronto and having to cheer for the Leafs.
I hope game 2 is more exciting for the complete 60 minutes!
